Cheers Neil, I didn't go into much detail on the engine earlier on by mistake....the std unit is bomb proof up to about 325 bhp. I haven't done much to mine, standard bottom end with ARP bolts, Redtop flywheel with ARP bolts again. The heads have std valves, with them and the seats cut at 3 angles, the inlet ports are slightly opened up and smoothed, and the exhaust ports were opened up by probably 25% (courtsey of removal of a section that takes exhaust gases and recirculates it back into the plenum chamber)and then smoothed up. The exhaust manifold and system are all Jetex parts, headers are 1.5" into 2" then into 2.5" and joins the exhaust piping at 2.5" to a single SS box...from en ex BTTC v6 Cavalier. The manifolds go forward and join, and then sweeps down and meets the system between the front of the engine and the fan and radiator, and then out the passenger side, same as a TVR model...due to no room with the steering column, starter and alternator. The intake system is a 2.5 Cavalier manifold smoothed out and then Yamaha R1 throttle bodies and trumpets. I have a pressure regulator on the fuel return as well as uprated injectors. The brain is an Emerald unit, and I'm getting the last bit of wiring done in the next week or so, and hoping for a reliable 270/280 bhp in a car that is about 900 kgs...enough for me...but twin turbos would be nice! :|

Just as a wee aside, I had to replace a piston when I got the engine...£135 from Vauxhall, and none were available from anybody else. I got a mate to look at the play in the piston and rod as i thought it was excessive, he said it was perfect and then said 'I thought it was a 3 litre youre building', I said it is, and he said that the piston was a Redtop one. With that he brought out calipers and a forged Redtop piston and after measuring said they were identical apart fom mine having a lower crown. Two years ago a forged Redtop piston was £60. I just kept the std pistons as money was tight....but if a rebuild is needed you know whats going in!
